dc.description | ABSTRACT : In the 16 th and 17 th centuries, a remarkable number of artists of Netherlandish origin settled in different centres of the Iberian Peninsula, for a period shorter or longer. Invited to settle after a career in other European regions, or arrived to continue their training in Spain, these artists maintened contact with their countrymen and undertook different strategies to adapt to their new context. This paper adresses the impact of itinerant and traveling Netherlandish artist in Spain and their role as agents and intermediaires for the dissemiantion of idas and works of art, but also the problems of migration and adaptation to local society, as well as material, technical and iconographical transfers. The paper will focus on those artists that settled in the main cities of the South of the Iberian Peninsula, cities that were the residence of important noble linegaes, episcopal sees and commercial centres closely connected to the Low Countries. | en_US |
