The world is digitising! If 2010 was the Year of Facebook (and Biodiversity of course), then 2011 will be undoubtedly the Year of Digital libraries! There is a growing trend towards digitisation of historically and culturally significant data. Museums are digitising their treasures (objects, photo s, films and sounds), libraries and archives books and documents, scientists their collections. Digitisation is not just a scanning; converting information into a digital format makes it easier to preserve, access, and share.
