dc.description | Re-examination of the holotype of Hepsetus odoe indicates that it falls within the range of H. akawo and consequently H. akawo is a junior synonym of H. odoe. As a result, the specimens from the western part of West Africa (from the Senegal to the Cavally River), formerly attributed to H. odoe, remain unnamed. The species is named as H. occidentalis, new species. | |
