dc.description | This paper deals on the transfer of a part of the artistic production in Seville to Cadiz during the second half of the seventeenth century, due to the economical, commercial and social development of the former and due to the art market crisis in Seville around 1680 and to the decadence of its harbour. On this purpose, the paper gathers and analyses different data about the painters and sculptors from Seville who settled down in Cádiz during this period. As conclusion, it proposes to link the appeal exercised by the city and its port with the activities of these artists as dealers on the American market, as well as on general market. We point out to the reader that this paper is an updated adaptation translated from French to Spanish of a precedent one on the painter Bernabé de Ayala (Jerez, c. 1625/post. 1689). | en_US |
