Our collective memory!

The State Archives of Belgium , a federal scientific institution, operates 20 archive repositories across the country. Together, they safeguard nearly 400 kilometres of analogue records and more than 445 terabytes of digital files. Our archivists and researchers create a wide range of inventories, research guides and studies that help both scholars and curious visitors navigate our collections. Each repository offers a public reading room where anyone can consult archival materials. In addition, an ever-growing part of the collection is accessible online. The State Archives also oversees information management practices within federal public services.
