dc.description(NL) Dit archief vertelt het indrukwekkende verhaal van de Belgische strijd tegen tuberculose, van de eerste privé-initiatieven rond 1900 tot een nationaal gecoördineerd gezondheidsbeleid. De stukken documenteren dispensaria, sanatoria, preventoria voor kinderen, vaccinatiecampagnes en wetenschappelijke doorbraken die de mortaliteit spectaculair deden dalen. Ze tonen tegelijk de sociale context: armoede, industrialisatie en de nood aan structurele zorg. Na 1945 volgen antibiotica, sluitingen en herbestemmingen van instellingen, maar ook een blijvend wetenschappelijk en preventief beleid.en_US
