The important steps which should be carried out prior to the digitisation work can be found in Chapter 4 Pre-Digitisation setup . Chapter 5 Digitisation workflow introduces the next step and primarily refers to digitisation in practice. After the production of a digital version of the particular item, the digital object has to be delivered to BHL-Europe and finally ingested into the BHL-Europe and Europeana portals. This is described step by step in Chapter 6 Preparation of data for BHL-Europe . A highlight is the fact that a user no longer needs to be an IT-specialist to perform this task, which in turn can save resources.
