    Description
Venia kakameBa gen. n., sp. n., a new, canopy-dwelling, Afrotropical erigonine spider (Araneae, Linyphiidae). J. Afrotrop. Zool. 5: 3-13. A new genus and species, Venia kakameBa, of an erigonine Linyphiidae is described on the basis of males and females collected by canopy fogging in the Kakamega Forest in Kenya. The morphology of the genitalia is thoroughly analysed. When the taxon is incorporated in the character matrix of Miller & Hormiga (2004), the most parsimonious trees suggest that Venia is highly autapomorphic and that it is sister to a large clade of distal erigonines, justifying the erection of a monotypic genus.
