dc.descriptionUsing the IAGA definition of a geomagnetic observatory and a wish list from geomagnetic data users, we look into new ways to fulfill these requirements using the new developments in absolute and variometric instrumentation. We try to project how future observatories will look like, especially considering the new automatic instruments which will soon be forthcoming.
