Mai 2024 in Arnheim den vielfältigen Herausforderungen der Zukunftsfähigkeit von Archiven. Diskutiert wurden ökologische Fragen der Archivarchitektur, die energieintensive digitale Langzeitarchivierung sowie der Umgang mit neuen digitalen Kommunikationsformen. Deutlich wurde, dass Bewertung weiterhin die Kernaufgabe von Archivarinnen und Archivaren bleibt. Ein Ausblick skizzierte das Berufsbild des Archivars im Jahr 2050. | |

Are our archives future-proof”, the conference held on 16–17 May 2024 in Arnhem explored the many challenges involved in ensuring the long-term sustainability of archives. Key topics included reducing the ecological footprint of archival buildings, addressing the energy demands of digital preservation, and managing new forms of digital communication. The discussions reaffirmed appraisal as a core archival responsibility, while the closing session offered a forward-looking reflection on the role of the archivist in 2050. | |
