dc.description | Occupations and attitudes of operational meteorologists, engineers and weather investigators are reviewed, and the communication gaps in their spectrum of wind activities are discussed. The desirability is shown of initiation of an European certification program for meteorological advisors. For the spectrum of wind itself is shown, that the existence of a special gap for wind variation periods around one hour follows logically from atmospheric scale analysis. The occurrence of a diurnal peak in the spectrum appears to depend on observation height. A review is given of recent developments I the meteorological derivation of engineers’ design wind speeds.
