    Description
The Tsjernobyl nuclear reactor accident is analysed from the point of view of long range transport of air masses. A two-dimensional trajectory model is applied to simulate the air mass movements. Trajectories are calculated forward in time, leaving the source area at successive time instants, as well as trajectories backward in time arriving at a specified location atdiffrent time instants. The results agree surprisingly well with the observations.
